First I want to make sure you have read my article which shows you how to get any girl. This covers how to talk to girls. If you haven’t read it then it will make getting the phone number a great deal more complicated than it needs to be.

When to get a girls phone number

So, you have used the techniques I’ve told you about to get into a conversation with a girl. Ideally you want to go home with her the same night, though this is not always possible for many reasons. If you want to see her again then you need to get her phone number. For most guys, this is the very last thing they do when talking to a girl. I want to explain why this is wrong.

The best time to get her number is about 5-10 minutes before the end of the conversation. If you wait untill the very end it has much more of a player feel to the situation – like her phone number was the only reason you were talking to her. Experience has shown that guys who hang around for a while after getting the number are far more likely to actually end up sleeping with a girl than those who eject immediately after.

How to get a girls phone number

The golden rule of getting a girls number is that you must actually get her number. Do not just giver her yours as there is a much lower chance of her calling you.

If you are not pushed for time, then you can say things which will actually get her to suggest meeting up. The way to do this is by talking about things which you are doing in the future (next weekend ideally). If she is interested she will either directly ask to come or say something positive like “that would be so much fun”. If this works then you can simply say “Give me your number and I’ll let you the details nearer the time”. You can adjust this depending on how positive her response is. If she is very keen you can simply say “Give me your number and I’ll call you about it”.

The most important thing here is that you pull out your phone, get it at the keypad screen (if you have an iPhone) and give it to her so she can put in her number. Make sure you are making a statement: “Give me your number…” instead of asking a question “Can I have your number?”. This is much more likely to lead to her complying.

If you do not have as much time, then you need to employ a slightly different strategy. Less time, means less comfort between you two so the idea of a formal date may be a bit of a stretch. A great alternative is to say that you and your friends are going to X bar/club later/tomorrow/next weekend. Say that her and her friends should come and you’ll give her a text to let them know what it’s like. Then simply pull out your phone as I mentioned before as you are saying the words “I’ll give you a text”.

From here, you can either try to get her to come or simply text her some funny, preferably something that the two of you were talking about. You can progress onto the phone within a few days and the push for a date from here. This is not ideal however and should only be used when you are pushed for time or you feel the interaction hasn’t been very strong so far.

The ideal way to get her number is to actually plan a date in advance. Do not suggest dinner and/or a movie. These are bad first date scenarios for a number of reasons. Try something a bit more low key like going out for a drink at a nice wine bar you know, or something less formal. Or you can simply suggest that you two hang out on a specific day – this gives you time to work out something to do at a later point in time. All you need to do is pull you phone out and give it to her while saying “Give me your number and I’ll let you know the details”. This suggests that you, being the man, are going to arrange the plans. It is the best way to get a girls number in the majority of situations.

Preventing flakes

To prevent a girl from flaking, there are a few simple things which you can do. First and foremost is engaging her friends in conversation. If her friends think you are cool then she is much more likely to give out her number and also to actually meet up with you in future. Girls care a lot about what their friends think, especially when it comes to guys.

When you actually get her number, ring her phone to make sure she entered it in correctly. This also allows her to take down your number. This is very important. Many girls won’t answer the phone if an unknown number is calling. If your number is already saved in her phone, she will know it is you that is calling.

Forget what you see on TV or in the movies about waiting 3 days so you don’t seem desperate. Girls will see straight through this and the longer you wait the more loss of emotions towards you she experiences. I always text a girl the same night I meet her. Something fun and light hearted that sets the scene for the two of you to text each other over the next few days.

A classic example is “Hey Sarah it was fun to meet you tonight, you were definitely one of the top 10 Sarah’s from Australia I met tonight! -Troy x”. The word fun implies this is a light hearted text. Secondly I would pick something unique and unusual about her and then put that in the gag about the top 10. So in this case I would have met a girl Sarah from Australia but I met her in Copenhagen where there aren’t many Australians, let alone many called Sarah.

Step 1 – Mindset

The advice “just be yourself” is flawed. It is what everyone does automatically anyway. And if this hasn’t worked before then why should it start working now. You don’t want to be yourself, you want to be your best self. Think what you feel you deserve in life and what kind of person you want others to see you as. This is your best self.

Make sure your personality is consistent with your values. This is what you like and what you are interested in. For example, do not pretend to like something if you have no interest in it. If you disagree or don’t like something, then say so. Girls will respect you much more for disagreeing.

Being confident is about a number of things. Firstly, understand that girls are not guys. They don’t behave or respond the same way as guys do. That being said, never put girls on a pedestal, even if they are very attractive. This means that you shouldn’t go out of your way for girls, unless they have earned it. So things like buying girls drinks, giving them rides in your car just so you can spend time together is bad. Girls know whats going on, even if it is subconscious and they will lose respect for you.

Finally, the more girls you talk to, the easier you will find it to start getting them to like you. Even if there is only one girl that you like, you are far more likely to actually get her if you spent lots of time meeting and talking to other girls too.

Step 2 – Attitude during conversation

There are a number of things that you can change about your attitude when talking to girls that will transform your interactions. Movies, tv and books often say that you should compliment a girl and show you are interested. This is good advice, so long as you balance it out. Think if it like a push-pull scenario. When you show interest you are pushing and when you stop or when you show dis-interest you are pulling away. If you do this right, when you start to show dis-interest, girls will become very attracted to you – they want what they can’t have. Think of this as playing hard to get for guys.

To show disinterest, tease her in a fun way. Do not insult her or her looks, but insult stereotypes about her. If she is blonde and says something silly, you can tease blondes (but not specifically her). This will have amazing results. Another great disinterest technique is to change your body language. Look away and stand as if you will walk away at any moment. Periodically look around as if you are looking for someone. Also, don’t be afraid to cut a conversation topic and start talking about something else completely.

You don’t want to be the nice guy that agrees with everything she says all the time, but at the same time you don’t want to be the arrogant guy that is a complete jerk. There is a health middle ground. Finally, do not act as if you are seeking and outcome (IE her to like you). Your attitude should be: if it happens, cool, if not, I’m not bothered.

Step 3 – Actions to take as soon as possible

There are three great things you can do to get a girl to like you. One of the most potent technique that has a near 100% success rate is acquiring something called pre-selection. This is when a girl sees you with other girls. She hears other girls talking about you. This creates a buzz about you and she will respond to this very quickly and very strongly. All you need to do, is talk to lots of girls and this will happen naturally. Another good way is having lots of girls talking to you on your social networking profiles.

When you are talking to a girl, most guys are afraid or don’t know how to escalate things. The best way to do this is physically. Start to touch her when you are expressing yourself in a conversation. For example, if you are telling a story and you are using the word “you”, this is a perfect opportunity to touch her on her arm. It is expressive but deliberate. You will never encounter any resistance to this. From here, you need to take things further. Grab her wrist gently and pull her in so you can talk to her in her ear (if the music is loud for example). Girls love when guys touch them. It makes progressing onto the kiss a much smaller and easier step.

The final action I want to talk about in this article is called role play. This is when you create an imaginary situation that you and the girl are both part of. This allows you to have many fun and interesting experiences. A good example would be asking a girl where she would most like to go on vacation. Let’s say she says Hawaii. You can talk about how you would spend the day surfing if you went to Hawaii, then find some firewood and make your own fire on the beach with cocktails at sunset. Be as specific as possible.

Other good roleplays include the perfect day, what you would do if you won the lottery and what you would do if it was your last day on earth. Girls love playing out these kind of scenarios and will be eager to participate in them.
